U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

So I know one medal the American's won't win in Beijing this year, and that's for broadcast coverage. Here in Canada, the CBC is broadcasting Olympic coverage live around the clock. It looks like NBC is broadcasting some things live on the East Coast, but for some reason they are delaying it three hours on the West Coast. So last night we got to see Michael Phelps win his first gold medal live on CBC, and then we got to watch it all over again three hours later "Live" on NBC. The nice thing is that since the Canadians are broadcasting 24/7, they have plenty of time to cover US events as well as Canadian. So for those of you keeping score at home, the current tally is:

But Tom, doesn't NBC get extra credit for all the cable stations and internet coverage it's providing? I saw where they were providing more than 2,000 hours of coverage, which is interesting since there are only 336 hours in two weeks!

Yes, but having to watch Bob Costas and Cris Collinsworth more than negates any good thing NBC does during the games.
