Patience is a virtue...

So you should thank me for waiting so long between posts. Your patience has been rewarded, however, because I have lots of pictures to share.

Laura had her first fourth birthday party with just the four of us at home. Sally made her a fluttery butterfly cake topped with Laura's favorite candy, m&ms.

After that, I went to London for a week. I actually did a fair amount of work, but you'd never know it by the amount of other fun things I got to do. The highlight of the trip for me was seeing a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at a replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. The show was a riot, especially the performance of Pyramus and Thisbe that had everyone in stitches.

If there's one thing I've learned in 8 years of marriage, it's that I should never go have fun on travel while Sally stays home with the girls and come home empty-handed. So I stopped off at Harrod's to pick up some goodies for my girls.

While I was away, Sally took the girls to "Touch A Truck" on the Bristol Town common. Laura had fun putting on the firefighters' gear, but the girls' favorite truck was the Hummer. Evidently they care more about having lots of room to play than they do about the environment!

After I got back, Laura had her second fourth birthday party with all her friends. You might think that little girls in pretty dresses at a tea party would behave like dainty little ladies. Hah! They amused themselves by running around the house like crazies. Needless to say, Laura had a blast.

Laura had so much fun, she had to have another tea party with her dolls after the other girls left.

As if that weren't enough, last weekend we went to Sweet Berry Farm in Middletown to pick apples. The apples from the grocery store really don't compare, especially since the ones we picked were different varieties you don't normally see, and they all were about the size of grapefruits.

The farm also grows Christmas trees, so for the first time we tagged our own tree. We usually buy them from the roadside stands in December, but it's so hard to know what you're getting there. This way is much better, especially because the farm had so many different tree varieties.

Now if only it would snow.
