Braving the Elements

Today the weather really came in with intermittent downpours and gusting winds. So naturally, we chose to climb to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge.

Then we hopped on a ferry to the North side of the harbor to see the Taronga Zoo. We didn't have much time, so we made a bee line for the Australian animals.

Tasmanian Devils look like angels when they're sleeping. The echidna, however, was walking around foraging for ants.

The platypus and wombat were both shy, but we managed to catch a glimpse of the wombat when he took a break from digging in his burrow.

The koalas pretty much have the run of the place and seemed to enjoy rocking to sleep in the high branches swaying in the wind. One little fellow found a comfortable place for a snack.

And what Australian exhibit can be complete without kangaroos? We got to see Eastern Grey and Red Kangaroos, Wallabies, and Tree Kangaroos too.

The final treat of the day was a spectacular fireworks show in Cockle Bay that we watched from the perfect vantage point on the Pyrmont Bridge.
