Day 1 In Sydney

We landed a little after 6:00 am today in Sydney, so the goal for today was to recover from the flight and stay awake until the local bed time to help with the time zone adjustment. Our hotel room wasn't ready yet, so we started the morning off with a walk around The Rocks. We ended up atop a hill that is home to the Sydney Observatory.

From there we had a great view of the harbor bridge and the carnival below it.

It was a nice day, so we ate lunch outside, where a pair of lorikeets (Laura should remember them from the San Diego Zoo) begged for scraps.

Later on we went to Bondi Beach for a walk along a path that links beaches along the Eastern coast.

There were lots of surfers out, but this one seemed to be having second thoughts about diving in.

Our day ended by the iconic Opera House that we discovered looks totally different up close compared to far away.

We got here, our bags got here, and we stayed awake. Now it's time to sleep.

Great pictures! Glad to see you got there safely. I'll keep checking back for more.
